Senior Software Engineer with DevOps Experience
Rapid River develops an application deployment system which allows microservice-architecture applications to be deployed on Kubernetes. An integral part of onboarding clients into that deployment system is converting all of their existing applications from bare-metal deployments to a containerized environment. We are looking for capable Software Engineers to join our team and contribute to this effort.
About The Role
* You’ll be a member of a small team of developers working in an Agile setting.
* The team’s primary responsibility is applying 12-factor principles to existing applications, and deploying them to Kubernetes.
* The language, code quality, availability of tests, and level of active development varies between clients and applications. (it’s a plus being
comfortable with or being able to learn quickly: PHP, Groovy, Bash, Ruby,
Java)
* The team’s working hours is centered around WAT (UTC+1) but clients are mostly in PDT (UTC-7) and EDT (UTC-4).
* The level of engagement and responsiveness from client teams also varies by client and application. Communications and good planing are paramount.
* You’ll help your team by producing quality work through planning sessions, pair programming, and code reviews.
* You’ll help improve technical processes so that the whole team stays productive.
* You’ll look for and take opportunities to help the team become stronger and more experienced. * You’ll be comfortable talking extemporaneously about team status and progress with a variety of stakeholders when needed.
About You
* Above all else, you’re a developer. You love code and coding.
* You are a power user (but not necessarily administrator) of Docker and
Kubernetes.
* You should be comfortable analyzing the usage of MySQL, Postgres, Redis,
Kafka, and other data stores
* You love to talk about the nuances and trade-offs of implementation approaches.
